Our Strategic Plan

Our strategic plan is the product of a two-day planning session where we gathered congregants, staff and Elders to dream about our direction for the next three to five years. During our time together, we reflected on all the ways God has been at work throughout the history of KAC, mining the stories for key themes and distilling them down into five strategic directives for the future. Our areas of strategic direction are: Formation, Community, Revival/Renewal, Missional Engagement, and Leadership Development

The Conviction

One of KAC’s greatest resources is it’s building, which hosts over 1300 people throughout every week. It has been a centre for teaching, ministry and care – a place for communities to gather, people to pray, youth to encounter Jesus, the Bible to be taught, and somewhere to escape from the cold winter nights. The Lord has used this building to serve us and our community well; however, it is apparent that, should we continue to move towards our preferred future, we will require more from our building than it can currently offer. With long-term vision in mind, it has become our conviction that we must optimize, and better utilize, the space within our building to ensure that it can facilitate all God plans to do in and through KAC – for generations to come!

The Invitation

For this reason, we are pleased to invite you to prayerfully consider investing in the “Beyond All Stewardship Campaign”. Beginning in November 2024, we will seek to raise approximately $2.9 million to make the necessary renovations and improvements to our current building. These renovations are guided by our five strategic directives and designed to help us meet our faith-filled goals.

A History of Faithfulness

Kamloops Alliance Church is a trophy to the grace, provision, and faithfulness of God. As we embark on a capital campaign geared to maximize our building for current and future ministry, we are buoyed by God’s story in this church over the past eighty years. Our church began in 1944 with a group of people who prayed, worked, and believed that God placed them in this city for Kingdom impact. We look forward to seeing how Jesus uses this campaign to grow our faith, reach more people, and see more disciples formed.

FAQs

What is happening?

In November 2024, KAC will be launching a fundraising campaign titled “Beyond All Stewardship Campaign” with a goal of raising approximately $2.9 million to renovate our building, enhance ministry space and impact, as well as address key projects to ensure our building is usable for years to come.

Why are we doing this?

In 2022, we launched the KAC Beyond All Strategic Plan. This plan was the outcome of a two-day planning session where
congregants, staff, and elders came together to dream and pray about the direction of our church for the next three to five years. Through this, we established five key directives: Formation, Community, Renewal, Missional Engagement, and Leadership
Development. As a follow up to the plan, KAC hired a consultant to determine the suitability of our building for our future goals and dreams. Through meeting with staff and other professionals, the consultant made several recommendations which were compiled together into what we now call the “Beyond All Stewardship Campaign.”

What were the consultants’ recommendations?

Our building is an important KAC resource and hosts over 1300 people throughout an average week. The Lord has used this building to serve our community, however it has become our conviction that we must optimize, and better utilize, the space within our building. Ten areas of renovation were identified and prioritized within our church that fit within the Strategic Plan.

Why is it called a Stewardship Campaign?

Included in the renovation projects are upgrades to our the children’s area, Rivers Café, the gym, office space, and more, but also included is upgrades to the building shell including much needed new siding, doors, windows, and HVAC replacement. These required maintenance updates are necessary to extend the life of our building, ensuring it continues to serve us well for
generations to come.

What is the timeline for this campaign and renovation projects?

With membership approval on October 2nd, we will officially launch the fundraising portion of the campaign in November 2024. This campaign will run for 2 years until the end of December 2026. We hope to receive pledges of support in November 2024 which we will then use for the budgeting of cash flows for the projects over the 2.5 year renovation period.

Why not just do an addition to our existing building?

During the consultation period we looked at all options for our building including holding meetings with the City of Kamloops. It was made clear that any change to the envelope of the church would require us to update the entire building to new building code, including, among other things a new fire suppression system. The cost of doing this would be $1 million+ before considering the additional renovation. We do not believe this is a wise expenditure of funds and stewardship.

Without additional square footage, and with our growing church, how will we fit current and future needs?

Our strategic plan outlines growth pathways in the future through new campuses, expressions, or multi-site churches in other locations in Kamloops and surrounding area. For example, we are launching a new campus of our church at Sun Peaks in the Fall of 2024. Additional square footage will come from initiatives like this in other buildings (either rented or bought).

How will ministries be affected by the renovations?

There are several spaces that will be updated over the project period, but our goal is to be as least disruptive as possible. This means some renovations will take place during the summer months when attendance is down, but we will work closely with staff to ensure we continue to serve our community well throughout the campaign.

How can I be involved?

There is a desperate need for the members of our church to be involved in 3 ways. 1) Please consider a commitment to pray diligently for all aspects of this project, 2) Please consider contributing your time to both the campaign events and renovation projects, and 3) Please consider what gift you would give to help jumpstart this campaign.
