Lent

This is an invitation to a journey – a forty-day period where we join the wider Church in a season of repentance and renewal, preparing our hearts and our minds for Easter.

A Conversation about Lent

Join Pastor Danielle and Pastor Arran as they chat about the season of Lent, its historical origins, its significance to us today, and how we can engage with it this year.

What Is Lent?

Lent is a time of intentional prayer and fasting focusing on spiritual renewal – which prepares our hearts and minds to reflect on the meaning of the crucifixion and death of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Watch this video from Pastor Arran to learn more.

A season dedicated to repentance and renewal should not lead us to despair, it should cause us to praise God for His grace.

Listen Now

Welcome to our Lent Devotional, Into the Wilderness. Our hope is that we will emerge from our 40-day journey repentant and ultimately renewed, having discovered the mercy of Jesus who endured the cross so that we might enjoy the purpose for which we were created, experiencing deep, intimate relationship with him now and forevermore.

Extra Resources

If you’re looking to go deeper, we reccomend reading ‘Lent: The Season of Repentance and Renewal’ By Esau McCaulley. “Often, though, we experience the Lenten fast as either a mindless ritual or self-improvement program. In this short volume, priest and scholar Esau McCaulley introduces the season of Lent, showing us how its prayers and rituals point us not just to our own sinfulness but also beyond it to our merciful Savior.”
